About Dr Rogers

Dr Chris Rogers is a specialist in Laser Refractive Surgery and is currently practicing out of the laser eye surgery Chatswood Eye Institute, and is the Alternate Medical Director of the Vision Group.
A corneal specialist, Dr Rogers has a particular interest in laser refractive surgery and brought the first Excimer laser used for refractive surgery into Australia in 1991.
Dr Rogers is a graduate in Medicine from the University of Sydney. Following his training, he did a Corneal Fellowship and then was a Lecturer in Ophthalmology at the University of Sydney. During the 90’s, Dr Rogers was a consultant to Summit Technology and advised on the development of the Excimer laser as well as the development of laser algorithms. He continued his consultant work with the development of the Autonomous Technology laser. He is currently on the Global Medical Advisory Board of Abbott who manufacture the VISX laser and the IntraLase.
Apart from advising various companies on laser development, Dr Rogers has published some forty scientific articles and lectured widely, both domestically and internationally, on the subject of refractive surgery. He is currently a reviewer for both the International Eye Research Journal – Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology and the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He is also the current Secretary/Treasurer of the Australian and New Zealand Cornea Society.
Dr Rogers is married with eight children. Apart from his principal interests of family, cornea and laser refractive surgery, Dr Rogers is a keen thoroughbred horse breeder. He also has a strong interest in Russian literature and ancient myths and legends.
